Spanish Garlic Shrimp, commonly referred to as “Gambas al Ajillo,” is an easy and quick dish that you’ll love making at home! Here’s a great recipe:
Ingredients:
- 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 4 cloves garlic, thinly sliced
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 2 tablespoons dry sherry or white wine
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
- Salt and black pepper to taste
Instructions:
Pat the shrimp dry and season them to your preferred flavor with salt and black pepper to achieve optimal results.
Make sure that a large skillet heated over medium-high heat is used, then warm the olive oil before starting your recipe.
Add garlic and red pepper flakes (if applicable) to a skillet and allow to simmer for approximately one minute, until fragrant and lightly browned.
Once your shrimp are pink and fully cooked, place them into a skillet and saute for two to three minutes on each side until done.
Pour in the sherry or white wine and let it simmer for another 1-2 minutes until its volume has decreased by half.
Garnish your dish with fresh parsley and serve it while hot.
Note: Add an extra bit of zest by squeezing lemon juice directly onto the skillet right before serving, for even more zest and zest! Enjoy your Spanish Garlic Shrimp as either a main course with rice, or use bread to soak up its rich garlic sauce – either way it will surely impress.
